![]() I'm a software developer myself, but having a full time job and a passion for sim racing I can't take the wheel of the project. And if a company like Blizzard does that, it probably means it's worth something. This is the principle of Diablo 3 seasons, for example. Hi, Some time ago I shared the same idea of seasonal servers with x10 rate on everything, with limited duration (let's say 3 months, so it's actually almost 3 years worth of play), which in the end gave some little rewards to our main accounts. I’m not going to talk about any legal issues as I have no relevant experience there, but from my uneducated perspective it seems you might run into problems! ![]() I like making it a bit faster with some purchases here and there. I don’t see myself contributing to this as I do have some money to spend (generally developers are well paid), and I find the game a bit slow and boring when fully f2p. It honestly doesn’t seem like there’s that much interest in TaptapHeroes in general, and it’s more of a niche game. To achieve that, you generally need a very good reason to do it (which I’m a bit unsure here), and a really big community, so that it’s even likely that you have a good amount of people willing to do it. Each of them contributing a bit with their time. These things are generally better as a community of various developers that do it for fun (and for free). I might be completely wrong, but I doubt it. If you do it on your own you’re just gonna be burning a lot of money. After that, there’s always bug fixes, and whatever other tweaks you might want to do, including creating new event content, so throw another pile of money into the table.Īside from that, don’t forget that there are running costs to have those servers on, and since the servers would be fully f2p, I don’t see a good way of supporting it. If I had to pull a number out of my ass, for something playable and realistic I’d guess that it would cost something within 20-50k usd to write a first version, depending also on where the people are located (salaries vary a great deal in this world). Overall, it seems to me we’re talking about a massive endeavor that you might be underestimating. It should be possible (however, most likely only on Android, as for iOS you’d need jailbreak which doesn’t seem like a big thing nowadays). ![]() I must admit that I’m unsure about some of the steps required to reverse engineer all of the communication and hack the game binary into communicating with this new server. I’m a senior software developer with experience in both mobile games development and development of “servers” so I believe I have a possibly relevant view.
